Greed is Green
Corporate subsidies, monopolies, tax breaks for the rich, and inequality are some of the greenest things we've got going. These things slow economic growth while keeping the rich and powerful from undermining more egalitarian policies. Doesn't it make sense to concentrate the wealth and development in the hands of a tiny few such that the rest of us don't destroy the environment? Concentrating wealth slows down economic growth and consumption, so it is actually very green. It is even greener when this wealth is invested in financial derivatives - trillions of dollars with zero extraction or pollution. When these schemes lead to financial meltdowns, the global economic output slows down dramatically - which is awesome! Eh?

the problem is Greed is very one dimensional - it only cares about power and money. Certainly in some instances I can see how it worked in the "green" causes favor - but even then it's a side benefit.
But for every side benefit that is green I can probably give you 10 side benefits that are not.
Greed ultimately doesn't even care about green; it's only concerned with self-interests.
